How does your bilingual After-School German language program differ from purely recreational after-school programs?

We are a bilingual After-School program  offering K-10th grade classes. We were chartered by the Regents of the University of the State of New York. Ours is a ten year program and students graduate with the NY FLACS exam (which is the equivalent of three years of High School German). Graduates from our program usually continue with our Advanced Placement Preparation in German. Our structured curriculum and assessment instruments help our students score high marks on standard exams, such as AP German – which many of our graduates take with our school.

Who is your clientele?

Parents who believe that a foreign language will be an asset to their child’s growth as well as in College. Parents who appreciate a structured curriculum that leads to  graduation with a recognized diploma.

Who are your teachers?

Native Germans and US educated speakers of German.

Are you funded by any religious or political groups?

No. Our only mission is to teach German language and culture. Our language programs are tailored to a diverse and multicultural clientele and have neither religious nor political affiliation.

Where are your locations?

Manhattan: We rent facilities from a High School. Location on East 65th St. between Lexington and Third Avenues

Garden City: Tuesdays: We rent room from a facility on Whitehall Blvd (off of Stewart Ave)

Garden City: Fridays: Same as above.

What are your class times?

In Manhattan classes meet on Mondays, in Garden City on Tuesdays, and in Garden City on Fridays and Tuesdays.
Younger children, ages 5-12 meet from 4:30-6:15, older children meet from 6:30-8:15.

What about your school year and calendar?

We run parallel to the regular school year. Classes start the 2nd week in September, and we are closed on all federal holidays, including Thanksgiving, Easter, and  Christmas. We also have Winter and Spring break.

Do you have Mommy and me classes?

No, not at this this time. We start with Kindergarten.

Do you let parents and children observe classes to see if they like it?

No, there are no sample classes. However, you’re welcome to see the classrooms and meet the teachers.

What is the tuition for the upcoming school year?

$950 (1st child), 900 (2nd child) for the school year, starting second week of September, 2023. There are discounts for the 3rd and 4th child as well.

How do I register my child?

We have rolling registration until the beginning of September. Download and print out the registration form. It is recommended that you discuss placement  with the principal if the child is a German speaker but needs to learn how to  read and write in German. See below.

My child is fluent in German but cannot read or write.

We would love to have your child in the program, placement needs to be discussed with the principal.
